Found megalithic structure

Archaeologists have discovered the world’s oldest temple – megalithic structure, which scientists have dubbed the “Turkish Stonehenge”. Scientists consider it “the most important building in the world”: a place of worship of ancient people called Göbekli Tepe in South-Eastern Turkey over the famous English Stonehenge by seven thousand years.

The temple of Göbekli Tepe is a circle with a diameter of from 15 to 50 meters, surrounded by rectangular stone walls about 3 feet high. Many of the pillars are carved columns with relief figures of animals. In addition to the bulls, foxes and cranes, the pillars can be distinguished lions, ducks, Scorpions, ants, spiders and snakes. Inside the circles were also found free-standing sculptures of animals. In the last season of excavations, archaeologists discovered a statue of a man and sculpture of the head and neck of a wild boar.

During excavations it was discovered that Gobekli Tepe was constructed in two stages. The oldest structures are from archaeological classification to the early pottery Neolithic period And ended approximately IX thousand years BC Interestingly, the constructions and sculptures, which archaeologists date to a later period – early pottery Neolithic B, made much less tschatelno the lack of complex parts of the scenery. In the earliest period were built most of the T-shaped pillars and sculptures and reliefs of animals.

Archaeologist Klaus Schmidt is extremely skeptical of some of the speculation about the temple, who will appear in the press, saying that the construction represents a model of the garden of Eden – the earthly Paradise. However scientist agree that the sanctuary was a very important place of worship for the people living in the stone age. “The first Stonehenge”, I’m sure Schmidt will help give scientists the key to understanding the ancient process of transition of people from hunting and gathering to agricultural activities and diversity of local beliefs to the common gods.

Scientists estimate that in order to cut each of the 10-, 50-ton stone blocks from the quarry and carry them a mile to the place of the future sanctuary, would have required 500 people. How people from the stone age have managed so thoroughly to organize the process of building the temple? Scientists suggest that a certain privileged class of religious leaders (priests) were able to observe the work later and to accomplish the ritual actions. If the assumptions of scientists are confirmed, this will be the main proof of the existence of the most ancient of nowadays known castes. Thus is proven the existence of the ancient division of society into classes.

Klaus Schmidt of the German Archaeological Institute is confident that the sanctuary of Göbekli Tepe flocked small groups of immigrants from many regions of the South-Eastern Anatolia.

Before the discovery of the existence of the “Turkish Stonehenge”, archaeologists were convinced that the early Neolithic people lived in small tribes engaged in hunting and gathering, and the first worship were characteristic of those tribes who have already switched from hunting to agriculture. Scientists believed that the earliest construction could appear only when agriculture provided Neolithic people with food, freeing them from the daily struggle for survival. The incredible beauty, power and a detailed study of the structures of Göbekli Tepe has completely refuted all these theories.

Now Schmidt is confident that the people who built this huge sanctuary, came from afar. Once they arrived at the site of the future temple, they sacrificed a few animals. During the excavations of the sanctuary were found the bones of deer, wild boars, sheep, bulls, and birds. Most sacrificial animals are depicted on the stone blocks of the temple.

Religious rituals of Göbekli Tepe are still a mystery to scientists. Perhaps this painting-the symbols, to whom they sacrificed in the hope of good hunting, and perhaps – just pictures depicting the world around us.

Klaus Schmidt, however, has another theory about the temple, which still need to be substantiate. He is sure that the first set of stones is the burial place of some important tribes of people. The T-obrany the type of columns with a small “onion dome” resembles the contours of a man depicted in profile, and this suggests that the T-shaped columns represent people, and in the temple of Göbekli Tepe is, therefore, worshipped their ancestors.
